Dr. Christie Fleetwood: From Pharmacy to Farmacy

Episode Summary
In this conversation, I sit down with an old teacher of mine, and author of the foreword to my book (Vital Lifestyle), the fun and lively Dr. Christie Fleetwood.
Dr. Fleetwood and I start by talking about her background and personal healing journey. She provides a brief history of the pharmaceutical industry and how our society has come to be so overly medicated. We talk about some of the worst/scariest drugs that are also commonly prescribed, along with some common "side effects." We didn't get so much into the complex nutritional deficiencies that can arise over time while taking most pharmaceutical medications, but we did touch on how these meds can become obstacles for natural healing. We end with some very important foundational information when it comes to getting of pharmaceutical meds (please note that such should be done ALWAYS under proper medical supervision).

About Dr. Fleetwood
Christie Fleetwood earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, in 1988. After practicing as a retail pharmacist in the greater Richmond area for a decade--and being failed by conventional medicine in her own health crises--she attended Bastyr University, earning a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2004. Because of her unique education and training, she calls herself "medically bilingual", understanding both conventional medicine as well as natural forms of healing. And because she is so frequently asked to teach on pharmacology/pharmacy related topics, she studies them constantly, going deeper into the intricacies and nuances of the agents and uncovering some astonishing information that she thinks the public at large would benefit from knowing!
