Episode Summary

Chana Studley and I connected relatively recently via social media. She and I are both in the 3 Principles community with passions in holistic health and the mind body connection.

Chana has a fascinating story, which is to some degree recounted fictionally in her book, The Myth of Low Self-Esteem.

In this conversation we discuss her past traumatic experiences and how she has largely transcended the debilitating physical pain that she felt for years as a consequence. Chana’s current work is influenced by Dr. Sarno’s work with TMS (tension myositis syndrome) and the teachings of Sydney Banks and the 3 principles.

Some highlights include...

  • Chana’s experience of being mugged 3 times and almost dying
  • How tension myositis syndrome (TMS) is really just “too much stress”
  • Why reading a book, like Dr. Sarno’s “Healing Back Pain” can work to reverse symptoms
  • The risk of dwelling on pain and symptoms, and what to do instead
  • The power of understanding where pain and stress really come from
